Southern Cross is continually expanding our service through our New Build programme. We have a variety of new care centres opening in 2008 throughout the UK. Let’s take a look at the exciting new developments we currently have underway, and those that have opened since our last update.

Birch Tree Manor, The Wirral

Birch Tree Manor Care Centre in The Wirral is another new addition to the group. This Ashbourne Senior Living care centre is situated in the pleasant village of Port Sunlight surrounded by a variety of historic sites and tourist attractions, including the Lady Lever Art Gallery. The 62 bed centre is designed to provide nursing and residential care for older adults and has been instated with modern, best practice equipment throughout. Each of the bedrooms has a private en-suite bathroom and there are a variety of lounges available for socialising and relaxing. We are confident this will provide an extremely pleasant and comfortable environment for our service users.

Torrwood Care Centre, Somerset

Torrwood Care Centre is a development currently underway in Mendip, Somerset. The 82 bed centre is being built by Cowlin Construction and is due to open towards the end of September 2008. The centre which is located in Wells, in the heart of Somerset will offer general Nursing and specialist Dementia care. Torrwood will also become home to service users from two of our existing Ashbourne Senior living homes; Wookey Hole and Cathedral View. The service users will be relocating to the new care centre in September and are looking forward to settling into their new home.

Forth View Care Centre, Fife

Forth View Care Centre is situated in Methill, Fife and is being built by Seddons Construction. The centre is a purpose built, modern facility designed to provide caring services for older adults who experience physical frailty. Forth View will also specialise in caring for people with Dementia related illness.

Hamilton House Care Centre, Portsmouth

In Portsmouth, The Highwood Group have been re-developing the site of the former Futcher School into a modern, purpose built 60 bed care centre. This centre is due to open during Autumn 2008 and will create a valuable provision for the older community of Portsmouth and surrounding area.

Lakeside Care Centre, Darlington

Lakeside Care Centre is located in a central area of Darlington close to the Blackwell Grange Golf Course. The centre has 67 private en-suite bedrooms and is being constructed by Sandstone Developments. Lakeside is due to open during Autumn 2008.
