“Dementia” is a broad term that covers a number of illnesses, including Alzheimer’s disease. It is a progressive illness that is characterised by physical and chemical changes to the brain. These result in a variety of symptoms, most noticeably memory loss, disorientation and communication difficulties.
Southern Cross offers care for people with Dementia in both residential and nursing care homes. Some of our Dementia care homes are also registered to care for individuals with complex behaviours which some people living with dementia experience.
Families can expect to be closely involved in designing the care plan for their loved ones. The key to our strategy is to focus on the person as opposed to their symptoms.
Our Dementia Care Homes offer a safe and secure environment for all of our service users to feel settled and aware of their environment.
